Why We Require 30 Days of Medical-Grade Skincare Before Treatment
CO2 laser resurfacing is the most intensive skin treatment we offer, and properly prepared skin produces significantly better outcomes with fewer complications. We require all patients to be on a medical-grade skincare regimen for a minimum of 30 days before their CO2 treatment. This is a clinical requirement based on how the skin responds to ablative energy.
Medical-grade products containing active ingredients like retinoids, vitamin C, and targeted antioxidants condition the skin at a cellular level, improving its baseline health, accelerating cell turnover, and strengthening the dermal matrix before it is asked to undergo the stress of laser ablation and the subsequent healing process. Skin that has been properly prepared tolerates the procedure better, heals faster, produces more even results, and carries a lower risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Who Is a Good Candidate
Best for moderate to advanced concerns like sun damage, deep wrinkles, and acne scarring — especially if you can commit to the prep protocol and downtime. Fair to medium skin tones (Fitzpatrick types I–III) respond most predictably to CO2 resurfacing.
Patients who have been on a medical-grade skincare regimen and are in good overall health typically see the strongest outcomes. Our providers tailor every treatment to the individual patient, adjusting energy level, scanning pattern, and ablation depth to match your skin type and goals.
WHO SHOULD CONSIDER ALTERNATIVES
When Another Treatment May Be Better
Not suitable if pregnant, using isotretinoin recently, with active skin infections or conditions, or unable to follow the prep and recovery protocol. Darker skin tones (Fitzpatrick types IV–VI) carry a higher risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
